The Mason Contractors Association of America asked me to dream up an ad that would attest to the permanence of their products. I suggested the Ten Commandments, blown clear in the sands after thousands of years. Cecil B. DeMille had them made in the ancient Aramaic language for his epic movie “The Ten Commandments.” I had copies made in styrofoam & took them to Monihan’s Desert in North Texas. But evidence of my footprints ruined the effect. Then along came a whirlwind that lasted 10 seconds and cleared the foreground, leaving those beautiful striations in the sand. Divine Intervention.
